William Curran
William Curran was born into a large family in the rural village of Ryton on Tyne. After 21 years in the Royal Marines, during which time he saw action in Norway and Sicily and was awarded the British Empire Medal for services in a branch of Naval Intelligence, he started a new career in the NSPCC, attaining to the rank of Chief Inspector.
He is a devotee of the works of Frances Brett Young, and an authority on Robert Burns.
