Young, The Reverend Stephen (1745 1819)
Educated at Glasgow, he was an assistant minister at Ochiltree until 1780, then minister of Barr till 1819. Burns called him 'Barr Steenie' in 'The Kirk's Alarm': "Barr Steenie! Barr Steenie, what mean ye? what mean ye? If ye'll meddle nae mair wi' the matter, Ye may hae some pretence, man to havins and sense, man, Wi' people that ken you nae better, Barr Steenie! Wi' people that ken ye nae better."
