Wilson, Robert
A young weaver who was a native of Mauchline, and who knew Jean Armour there. He later moved to Paisley. When Jean's parents discovered that she was pregnant by Burns, they sent their daughter to relatives in Paisley, apparently hoping that Wilson's interest in their daughter would be rekindled. A rumour that Wilson and Jean Armour were likely to be married contributed to Burns's sense of resentment at Jean's alleged 'desertion'.
