Thriepland of Fingask, Sir Stewart (1716 1805)
He joined the Rising Of 1745, then escaped to France, was attainted and had his estate forfeited. When the Act of Indemnity was passed he returned to Scotland and repurchased his paternal estates near Castle Huntly, in 1782. Burns made a note of his name in his journal of his Highland tour, possibly signifying that he had met him when visiting Huntly Castle. A member of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, Sir Stewart was elected its President in 1766.
