Murray of Ochtertyre, Sir William (d. 1800)
Burns visited Sir William and his family in 1787 when he was making his tour in Clackmannanshire with Dr Adair. See Murray, Euphemia. It was among the Ochtertyre hills that Burns wrote 'On scaring some Waterfowl in Loch Turit'. Sir William was a cousin of Robert Graham of Fintry, to whom Burns, in a letter Of 13th May 1798, referred to Sir William as his 'honored friend'.
