McAdam, Miss
A daughter of John McAdam of Craigengillan, for whom Burns wrote an epistle. In a letter dated 11th January 1787, to the Mauchline surgeon Dr John Mackenzie, Burns referred to Sir John Whitefoord's son, John, having had 'the good luck to pre-engage the hand of the beauty-famed, and wealth-celebrated Miss McAdam, our Country-woman' for 'the Assembly and Ball of the Caledonian Hunt'.
