Mackenzie, Lady Augusta
Wife of Sir William Murray of Ochtertyre, and youngest daughter of the third Earl of Cromarty, a fervent Jacobite, who just escaped execution on Tower Hill in 1746 where Kilmarnock and Balmerino went to the scaffold. Burns described her in a letter to William Nicol, which he wrote when staying at Ochtertyre, dated 8th October 1787: '... a most engaging woman, and very happy in her family, which makes one's outgoings and incomings very agreeable'.
