M'Auley, John
Town-clerk of Dumbarton in 1787. He lived in Levengrove House, which no longer exists but stood in what is now Levengrove Park. He secured some subscriptions for the first Edinburgh Edition. Burns stayed the night of 26th June 1787, at Dumbarton, at the end of his short West Highland tour. M'Auley may well have been his host.
