Hunter, nee Home, Anne (1742 — 1821)
Wife of the surgeon John Hunter, and the authoress of, amongst others, the well-known song 'My Mother buds me bind my hair', se to music by Haydn, who she got to know while the composer was in London. Dr Gregory sent Burns two of her pieces to let him see 'how much correctness and high polish enhance the value of such compositions'. The doctor was criticising Burns's 'On Seeing a Wounded Hare'.
