Fyffe, Dr M
The recipient of a letter from Burns written on Saturday morn: six o'clock, on the day he set out on his Border Tour, therefore on 5th May 1787. Nothing whatever is known of this Fyffe, nor can any doctor or surgeon of this name be traced in Edinburgh at this time. But the letter contains a valedictory jingly stanza on Edinburgh. "Now, God in Heaven bless REEKIE'S town With plenty, joy and peace! And may her wealth and fair renown To latest times increase!!! Amen."
