Campbell, Lord Frederick (1736 86)
Third son of the fourth Duke of Argyll. In Parliament he represented the Glasgow and Ayr burghs from 1761 to 1780, and Argyll from 1780 to 1799. Burns calls him a 'true Campbell' in 'The Author's Earnest Cry and Prayer', along with Sir Ilay Campbell. In 1774 Lord Frederick laid the foundation stone of the new Register House in Edinburgh, which had been designed by Robert Adam.
