Campbell, 'Highland' Mary
Dr Robert S. Gilchrist thinks it possible that Mary Campbell may have died of typhus. This could well have resulted in a still birth just before her death, and in these circumstances the child would very likely be buried in its mother's coffin. He also points our that if Train is to be believed, Montgomerie might as probably have been the child's father as Burns.
